Payroll Supervisor

We are partnering with a large global powerhouse operating hundreds of locations across Australia. Known for their busy, high-volume environment and flexible workplace culture, they are looking for a proactive Payroll Supervisor to join their team in Mascot.

This role offers a flexible hybrid working model alongside convenient on-site parking. It is the perfect blend for a senior processor or team lead who enjoys being hands-on with processing while supporting, mentoring, and upskilling a busy team.

The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in an evolving landscape and is eager to quickly master complex enterprise systems and process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Payroll Manager in overseeing national end-to-end weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay runs for over 5,000 employees across retail, corporate, and logistics.

  • Maintain a hands-on approach with daily processing, including data entry, master file changes, leave applications, terminations, and ad-hoc pay runs.

  • Interpret and ensure strict compliance across the Award and complex Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).

  • Serve as an escalation point for payroll queries, maintaining a strong, customer-focused approach.

  • Take ownership of month-end reporting, general ledger journals, and reconciliations for PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and workers' compensation.

  • Drive new payroll procedure documentation, and assist with periodic system audits.

  • Mentor and share technical knowledge to support the professional growth of your payroll colleagues.

What we are looking for

  • Proven hands-on experience handling high-volume, transactional payroll within a large, busy organisation.

  • Strong technical capability in interpreting complex EBAs and Modern Awards with an up-to-date knowledge of Australian payroll legislation.

  • Experience or strong familiarity with modern systems such as Workday, UKG Dimensions, or Sage Micropay is highly desirable.

  • A quick learning capacity and growth mindset, eager to take on feedback, absorb new processes rapidly, and adapt to evolving business software.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong numerical analytical skills, and excellent communication.
